The Munich Community Music Action Research Group

In my presentation I will trace the journey to this conference by sharing the story of the Munich Community Music Action Research Group with you. After conducting pilot interviews in 2012 I initiated the action research group aiming to collaboratively explore and develop community music in Munich. The group has been working together for nearly three years from October 2012 until now. Using the action research method, the group consisted of nine members representing research, practice and arts administration in Munich. During the process community music emerged as a field in Munich: the group developed a first German definition of community music, a community music university module was established, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra established community music as part of their education work, this community music conference is hosted collaboratively, community music projects and publications were developed.




Biography

Dr. Alicia de Banffy-Hall hat nach einem BA Performing Arts/Community Music und einem MSc Arts and Cultural Management 10 Jahre lang in Liverpool, England gelebt und Europaweit als Community Musician gearbeitet. Projekte u.a. mit Orchestern, Museen, Schulen, Kindertagesstätten, Gemeindezentren und freie Projekte. Sie promoviert in der Musikpädagogik zum Thema Community Music in München und arbeitet am Lehrstuhl für Musikpädagogik an der Katholischen Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt.
